Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop medical facilities and equipment set for overseas medical support with analyzing medical facilities, equipment situation and concepts of UN level¥°,¥±. One hundred sixteen military officers who has experience in overseas medical unit were selected, such as medical support of Gulf, Western sahara, E. Timor, Afghanistan. Collection of data made use of a self-administrative questionarie survey method by mail. These data were collected from July 20 to August 20. SPSS 10.0 program was employed for data analysis. The collected data were analyzed using percentage and frequency statistics. The result of this study are as follow ; 1. 74 percent of those surveyed agreed to definition of the standardization of medical facilities and equipment set for overses medical support and mission of medical facilities and equipment set was incongruent for mission execution. 2. The evaluation of the medical support level where are in overseas, there were shortage of portable equipment in level I, II. The majority of shortage in equipment were emergency rescue kit, portable X-ray. 3. The most priority of the quipment for mission execution was field operation and lightweight system. This data was showed the necessity of operation light, Anesthsia Machine, Scrub Station, Ventilator Pocket Portable, Defibrillator, Patient Monitor in medical facilities. It was also showed the necessity of Case Medical Instrument and Supply, Hospital Bed, emergency Circulation Treatment, Bags in medical supplies. 4. The majority of the responders wanted to be replenished by airport transportation or DHL as a efficient method of a commodities of the short term of validity. 5. 58 percent of those surveyed said that they had a hard time executing the mission due to incongruent standardization of medical facilities and equipment set; 35 percent of those surveyed said that equipment was not handy and too heavy. 6. 32 percent of those surveyed said the equipment at was listed subjectively, and 29 percent of those surveyed said that it take much time to receive replenishment. This study result that standardization of medical facilities and equipment set for overseas medical support unit is important to complete military mission but it is not easy since there is no reliably objective data and unstable resupply polices, the limitation of the research to UN level I, II and EMEDS of United states army. It should be study with overseas medical support policy correlatively.
